In the western part of Slovakia, north of the town of Nitra, a new mill site Mlýn Malé Ripňany is being developed.
The architects from Studio A3 are currently providing architect’s supervisor in the “Malé Ripňany Mill” construction project.
The set of production, storage, office and technical buildings occupies an area of approx. 2 ha. Silos with a crops transportation and preparation system and with a total capacity of 20,000 tonnes are situated on the premises.
There is one specific thing about the site that the contractor had to deal with: it is the very poor geotechnical conditions with a set of clay strata of up to 15 meters, combined with a high level of ground water and large volumes of earthworks.
When completed, the Malé Ripňany mill will be a major employer in a small municipality with 600 residents. The regional investor has more big plans and wants to build more agricultural projects.
